Sarah said: “I want to thank the people of Brighton for being so supportive of the championships and helping to raise such a significant amount for Everyman. The money raised will be used to carry out vital research into testicular and prostate cancer and is greatly appreciated. I also want to thank the Handlebar Club for their amazing continuing support.”

The championships were organised by the Handlebar Club, an international club for men with handlebar moustaches, which was founded in 1947. The event took place on 1 September this year, with over 250 competitors battling it out for world titles in 17 categories of beard and moustache styles. There were nearly 3000 spectators cheering them on.

The event also raised £6,250 for the Rockinghorse Appeal, a local children’s charity.
